Getting stuck with a work out plan? Unsure of how to take your training to the next level? Need to keep motivated to finally hit the goal you have always missed?
In all active gyms, there is always going to be Personal Trainers or PT’s – these are specifically trained people who will help to set the correct plan for you needs, motivate you through a session and give you the confidence to try new exercises that you would normally avoid.
Goal setting
When most people first join a gym, they have got a goal that they would like to achieve – whether this is to lose weight, gain strength, tone up or prepare for an event.
Setting realistic goals is essential to success. A Personal Trainer will be able to put into perspective what is a realistic goal.
Setting goals is going to keep you focused on the final big picture. Goals will be split down into short, medium and long term goals and this won’t make your final goals seem so far away.
Making a training plan
There is so much contradiction in regards to training methods, so when you look on the internet to find out the best training method to achieve your goals, you will get 1000 different opinions! When working with a personal trainer you will get a tailored training plan, specific to your goals, abilities and that will suit your level of knowledge and understanding in a gym environment.
Not progressing
Working with a PT will give you a different training methodology which will help you push past your sticking point. This will include incorporating different training methods by adding a different dimension to your routine. Often it is the case that we stick to what we know and don’t tend to stray from our usual workout routine. So whilst any exercise is better than none, we don’t always see results.
Motivation
Once a PT has helped you to set your goals and created a plan to suit you, they will then help get you through the plan. Because your body is going to be working in a different way, initially this may seem quite difficult. But having a PT there to guide you and give you motivation means that the PT won’t let you give up when you think you have had enough. They will keep you going to complete the last rep of the last exercise.
Instruction
A real benefit to having a PT is ensuring that the correct technique is used to perform an exercise – this is vital. A Personal Trainer will explain and demonstrate the correct movement for each exercise that needs to be performed. This is going to help prevent injury during training. This will also lead to having a higher level of confidence when training in the gym on your own.
Efficiency
With the ever vicious circle of trying to obtain a reasonable work-life balance – time is one of the main reasons people stop coming to the gym. If you have got a limited amount of time and want to make to most of every minute in the gym, then your PT is going to devise you a workout to make the most of the allotted time. Your PT will ensure you still train to the same structure, burning the same calories and work intensity but in a shorter time frame.
