Ok, so the title is a bit misleading, but as it is the month of Trick or Treat and all things orange, we felt inspired to share with our Fitness Family some great foods that are orange and good for you!
Carrots
These little munchers contain beta carotene which in large doses is great for our eyes – remember the old wives tale about eating carrots to see in the dark?
Orange peppers
A pepper contains more Vitamin C than an orange.
Sweet Potatoes
These delicious source of carbs are high in Vitamin A and good for your skin, they have anti-bacterial properties that in large quantities can be good for calming acne.
Butternut squash
This yummy veg is high in fibre and potassium making it good for strong bones.
Papaya
A succulent fruit that is good for your digestive health and a great immune booster.
Pumpkins
Last but not least, these Halloween beauties are not only versatile for cooking – you can use the seeds as well, which help protect our bodies against heart disease.
So if you are carving pumpkins this Halloween, you can use the leftovers to make delicious soups or roast pumpkin chunks in the oven in some coconut oil and turmeric (also orange and a good anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory)!
Feel free to share your pumpkin recipes with us, we would love to hear them (and also any pictures of your carvings for Halloween).
